I. The client

Twelve years of helping thousands with IBD.

Crohn's Colitis Lifestyle is an established community and coaching organization for people navigating Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and other forms of IBD. Founded by Dane Johnson, CHN, after his own near-fatal battle with the disease, the organization has spent more than a decade helping thousands of people reclaim their health holistically.

This isn't a startup with a landing page. It's a mature, high-stakes organization with a real audience, a real body of content, and a real vocabulary — one that its readers depend on being exactly right.

II. The challenge

A twelve-year WordPress site that had earned a facelift.

The existing site had done its job for over a decade — but WordPress-of-2013 had aged. Plugin sprawl, slow load times, an admin experience that only Dane could reliably navigate, and a design language that no longer matched the credibility of the organization itself.

The brief was clear: modern visual language, preserved editorial voice, and — critically — an admin layer that someone other than a developer could run. Team members, new blog posts, coaching program pages: all of it needed to be editable by non-technical staff without opening a code editor or calling us for a comma change.

III. What we built

A modern rebuild — with a custom admin underneath.

The front-of-house is a full redesign — quiet, credible, deeply readable. Editorial rhythm on longform coaching content. Clear pathways for people arriving in crisis and for people arriving to learn. The IBD-specific vocabulary the community trusts, kept intact throughout.

Behind the front-of-house is what really makes this project different: a custom admin panel built specifically for their team. Blog posts, team members, coaching programs, testimonials — all editable through a clean interface designed around their workflow, not a generic CMS's.

IV. What made it different

Content editing that doesn't require a developer.

A rebuild is one thing. A rebuild that a small team can run themselves for the next decade — without paying a monthly platform tax and without depending on us for every edit — is the actual deliverable.

01

Custom admin panel

Built specifically for their content types: blog posts, team members, programs, testimonials. No generic dashboard — the fields on screen are the exact fields their content needs.

02

WordPress migration, voice intact

Twelve years of content carried over cleanly. The IBD-specific terminology the community trusts stays exactly as their readers know it.

03

Multi-editor workflow

New team members can publish blog posts, update bios, and manage programs without a developer sitting next to them. Real editorial autonomy.

04

Off the WordPress treadmill

No more plugin updates, no more security patches, no more monthly hosting bloat. A modern static-plus-admin architecture that gets faster over time, not slower.
